Driving Experience

There’s a whole host of features packed into the New Tourneo Custom to improve the drive and feel. For example, the power-adjustable, heated seat and adjustable steering wheel provide the perfect ergonomic driving space for you. Whilst the response and feedback through the controls also give you confidence in all conditions, at high speed, wet or dry and laden or un-laden. Then there’s the suite of driver assistance technologies including Hill Start Assist, Torque Vectoring Control and Side Wind Mitigation.

Helping to keep you inside the speed limit

The New Tourneo Custom now comes with Intelligent Speed Assist designed to enhance your speed control, enabling you to concentrate on the road. First, the Traffic Sign Recognition camera automatically detects the current speed limit (when activated), then the system adjusts your maximum speed setting to that limitIntelligent Speed Assist - Legal.

Cruise control that can adapt automatically

With the optional Adaptive Cruise Control technology, you choose the speed you want to drive at and the system will maintain it. If the built-in RADAR sensor detects a vehicle ahead, it will slow your vehicle to maintain a pre-set distance. Once the road in front is clear, the system will accelerate to your chosen speed. Forward Alert is a technology that comes as part of Adaptive Cruise Control and is designed to warn you if you accidentally get too close to the vehicle in front.

Technology that sees what you can’t

The Blind Spot Information System uses RADAR sensors to see vehicles that may be hidden in your blind spot. They’re situated on either side of your New Tourneo Custom and alert you with an orange light, clearly displayed in the side door mirror.

Spots the vehicles you might miss

Cross Traffic Alert is part of the Blind Spot Information System. When you’re reversing out of a space and have limited visibility of the traffic situation, Cross Traffic Alert can detect oncoming vehicles and sound a warning. The technology illuminates a light in the wing mirror too (left or right depending on the direction of oncoming traffic), as well as displaying a warning on the multi-functional display.

Sees the road signs you might miss

Whether the signs are at the side of the road or above it, permanent or temporary, Traffic Sign Recognition can identify them. An icon of that speed, or a no-overtaking sign, appears on the instrument cluster and changes every time it detects you entering a new limit.

New signature headlamps

HID headlamps deliver, a precise and intensely bright light pattern. And as well as being built for purpose, they’re designed to give New Tourneo Custom a distinctive look thanks to the inclusion of LED daytime running lights. In addition, Glare Free High Beam adjusts itself automatically to avoid dazzling other drivers and with static cornering and bending, these new headlamps help you see more clearly when driving around bends.

Easier, safer reversing

Bollards, bicycles, low walls… The rear-view camerashows whatever’s behind you on a screen built into the centre console. As well as revealing objects you might miss, the system displays virtual lines to help you park into the smallest of spaces. The camera activates automatically when you select reverse gear.

Rear air suspension

With rear air suspension, the system automatically adjusts to maintain a constant ride height, regardless of the loading conditions. This means you'll enjoy a smoother ride whether alone, with passengers or in a fully laden vehicle.

Ford SYNC Emergency Assistance

An important part of Ford SYNC is Emergency AssistanceFord Emergency Assistance. In the event of an accident, where the airbag is deployed or the fuel-pump deactivated, the technology can use a Bluetooth®-paired and connected mobile phone to help you make a direct call to the Emergency Services. You can choose to stop the call, or talk to those services if you need to. Crucially, the system can supply vital information, such as your GPS coordinates, even if you are unable to.
