Transit EcoBlue Engine Software Update

Please contact your Ford dealer for a required software update.

Transit EcoBlue Engine Software Update - Saves time and improves uptime.

Your Ford dealer is now offering a fast software update for your Intelligent Oil Life Monitor (IOLM), which will provide clearer notifications of when an oil change is due.

By booking your vehicle in for a software update, you can better ensure that your oil is changed when required and your engine is protected against premature wear.

Keep your engine running – get your update in 30 minutes.

Your vehicle already has several systems designed to notify you when an oil change is due. They continuously calculate the amount of oil quality to ensure your engine remains protected. When the oil becomes too diluted, it becomes less effective for engine lubrication. It is at this stage when your dashboard will notify you that an oil change is due.

A quick software update will provide clearer notifications of when you should take your vehicle to a Ford dealer for an oil change. It takes around 30 minutes to complete the update.

  • Recent changes in emissions regulations (Stage 6 Euro 6) and testing, known as Worldwide Harmonised Light-Duty Vehicles Test Procedures (WLPT), have driven a change in technology for exhaust after treatment for all vehicle manufacturers. Depending on drive cycle and style, this may result in the need to change the oil between services in line with the “upto” service strategy.

    • Ford Transit Custom EcoBlue engines

  • As a part of the update made to your Transit, oil change requirements are now indicated in three phases according to your usage pattern.

    The software update includes

    • An updated powertrain control module calibration to improve oil life for any given drive cycle
    • Clearer Intelligent Oil Life Monitor (IOLM) messaging

  • Ford EcoBlue Diesel Change Engine Oil

When the engine oil is approaching end of life, the message “Change Engine Oil Soon” will display on your dashboard and reappear every time you start the engine. This is when you should book your vehicle into a Ford dealer for an oil change or a service, whichever may be most appropriate.

If ignored, after a further 500-1000 miles/800-1.600 km the message on your dashboard will change to “Oil Change Required”.

If the oil is not changed, after around 1,500 miles/2.400 km depending on drive cycle and usage, the spanner warning light will illuminate and the engine power will de-rate as an additional prompt to change the oil. Ignoring these messages can cause serious damage to your engine and invalidate the warranty on your engine.
