FORD TRANSIT CUSTOM
Model shown is Transit Custom PHEV.
Transit Custom has always been renowned for its tough, functional reliability, and the superior levels of its design and craftsmanship. Now, it delivers an even wider range of innovative features and smart technologies. Plus greater efficiency thanks to a range of advanced diesel or available hybrid options. The result is: a van that’s more refined and sophisticated than ever before.
The Transit Custom is available as an EcoBlue Hybrid. This technology helps to reduce fuel consumption and lower emissions, with a small battery-powered electric motor providing extra support to the combustion engine when needed. Kinetic energy and regenerative braking recharges the 48-volt hybrid battery while you drive.
The Transit Custom Plug-in hybrid (PHEV) utilises two separate power sources. A battery powered electric motor drives the vehicle, while its 1.0L Ford EcoBoost petrol engine works to recharge the hybrid battery and extend the vehicle’s range. The driver can select between four available EV modes, including EV Now which allows you to drive with zero emissions on electric-only power, to a targeted range of 50 km. The PHEV battery can also be recharged using most AC network charging points.
The Transit Custom features a range of 2.0-litre Ford EcoBlue diesel engines, with four available powertrains offering up to 185 PS of horsepower. And with an AdBlue® catalytic reduction system converting NOx exhaust gas emissions into nitrogen and water, every engine meets the stringent Euro 6.2 emissions standards too.
Tourneo Custom is available with an impressive list of smart, driver assist features including a Blind Spot Information System that sees the vehicles you might miss. Intelligent Speed Assist uses the Traffic Sign Recognition camera to first detect the current speed limit (when activated) then helps to keep you inside that limit.
Cross Traffic Alert warns you if it detects oncoming traffic when you’re reversing out of a space. And Adaptive Cruise Control is designed to help you maintain a pre-set distance from the vehicle in front, automatically.
Ford SYNC 3 is an advanced system that enables you to stay connected and control your phone, music and navigation system. Choose either voice commands or the 8” colour touchscreen with pinch-and-swipe gestures for intuitive navigation. Live Traffic can help you avoid the jams. You can even call up a list of local restaurants simply by saying “I’m hungry”SYNC 3 Apple Carplay Android Auto.
Trailer Sway Control detects ‘snaking’ or trailer sway and reduces your vehicle’s speed to help solve the problem, making towing more controlled. The system slows the vehicle down by reducing the engine’s torque and gradually increasing the brake pressure on all wheels.
The Transit Custom can effortlessly carry standard 8’ x 4’ boards flat on the floor or three euro pallets. Thanks to its convenient and innovative load-through storage area, it can also accommodate items up to 3.4m long (L2), without preventing you from using the front passenger seats. Overall, the van provides up to six cubic metres of loadspace with a bulkhead fitted, and that’s just the short wheelbase (L1) version: the long wheelbase (L2) offers up to 6.8 cubic metres. It has the widest side load door-opening of any vehicle of its type. And the sliding doors have a new mechanism which holds them securely open for loading.
Helping businesses to operate in low emissions zones. Delivering outstanding efficiency with zero compromise to capability. We’re proud to announce the new range of Ford Transit Custom hybrids as winners of the International Van of the Year Award for 2020.
The first Plug-in Hybrid in its segment, Transit Custom PHEV is capable of electric-only driving and zero emissions to a targeted range of 56 km. While the Transit Custom EcoBlue Hybrid powertrain delivers up to an 8% improvement on fuel efficiency on non-hybrid variants.
Whatever your business, Transit Custom is flexible enough to meet your needs.
It’s available in three variants: Van, Double-Cab-in-Van and Kombi. There are also two body lengths and two roof heights, and a choice of Series and equipment options. Which means you can choose a combination that’s precisely right for you.
The Transit Custom Van is a functional load carrier, with a full-height, full-width bulkhead (glazed or unglazed), which separates the loadspace from the cabin, and the choice of two or three seats in the front. You can specify single or twin sliding doors and choose hinged rear doors or a tailgate.
As with the Van, you can choose two or three seats in the front row. In addition, the Double-Cab-in-Van offers an extra fixed row of three seats, behind the front row. Then a fixed glazed bulkhead separates the second row of seats from the loadspace.
The Transit Custom Kombi is even more versatile than the Kombi Van. In fact, it offers more than 30 different seating arrangements. It has the same Flexible Rear Seating system but with an extra – third – row of three seats. With all the seats present, you can carry up to nine people. As on the Kombi Van, the seats can be folded and rolled together to take up less space.
