Keeping your Ford Kuga Plug-in Hybrid charged is simple. And once it’s fully charged you can drive up to 56 km (WLTP) on electric power alone. That increases to 69 km when driving in urban locations with lots of stop-start traffic.

This page is where you’ll find everything you need to know about charging your new Kuga Plug-In Hybrid, including information on charging times, electric range, CO2 emissions, and more.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CHARGE A KUGA PLUG-IN HYBRID?

The time it takes to charge your Kuga Plug-In Hybrid battery can vary depending on whether you’re at home or in public, and what type of connection you’re using.

A domestic charging cable is supplied with your Kuga as standard. This enables you to plug your Kuga into a domestic socket to recharge. Additionally, the Ford recommended wallbox, EVBox+ Elvi Wallbox, is available for faster home charging. This is an optional accessory, available at additional cost.

The table below shows how long it takes to charge the Plug-In Hybrid battery from empty to full using a standard domestic cable, an EVBox+ Elvi Wallbox, and at a public charging station.

  Charging Time
Charge on Domestic Exterior Socket (230V 3/2 pin plug) 6 - 6.5 hours
Charge using a Ford recommended EV Wall Box (7kW) 3 - 3.5 hours
Charge on Public Charging Station 3 - 3.5 hours

CHARGING YOUR KUGA PHEV AT HOME

Recharging your PHEV is easy.

A domestic charging cable is supplied with your Kuga. This has a traditional domestic plug on one end, and a plug that fits into the hybrid car on the other. Simply plug your Kuga into a wall socket to begin charging.

If you install a wallbox home charging point, then your charging speeds will be significantly faster. Your wallbox will also include a Type 2 charging cable to enable the improved charging speeds.

Whether you use a standard domestic socket or a wallbox, you can manage charging preference through the vehicle’s SYNC screen or with the FordPass app. This lets you program when you want your Kuga to charge so it’s always ready when you are.

CHARGING YOUR KUGA PHEV IN PUBLIC

If you’re away from home and need to top up the Plug-In Hybrid battery, public charging stations are a simple and convenient solution. To recharge your Kuga in public, you’ll need to use the supplied cable for public charging stations. These cables use a Type 2 connector with both a male and female socket.

INSTALLING A WALLBOX HOME CHARGING POINT
