ALOHA WANDERWELL – THE ORIGINAL EXPLORER

MARCH 21, 2023

Aloha Wanderwell was a North American explorer, filmmaker, wife, mother and female Indiana Jones. Starting at just sixteen, she was the first woman to drive around the world. And she did it all in a Ford Model-T.

Visiting places no western man or woman had ever seen before, her journey was published in journals describing every step of the adventure, country by country.

ALOHA’S FIRST STEPS

Supported by Ford Motor Company, Aloha’s daring expedition started in Paris and took years to complete. The Model T ‘Flivver’ was chosen because of its reliability and ease of repair.

Ford also provided technical support through an extensive dealer network, which Aloha referred to as ‘the only global spare parts service’. Her journey spanned over seven years and took in 43 countries. At times kerosene replaced gasoline, crushed bananas replaced grease.

And while in India, local oxen were needed to tow the Ford Model-T across mud flats and rivers.

ALOHA’S JOURNEY REIMAGINED

Almost a century later, another explorer will follow in Aloha’s footsteps. Meet Lexie Alford. Known as Lexie Limitless to many. A modern-day explorer with a passion for travel. She is the youngest person to have travelled to all sovereign countries before the age of 22.

Inspired by Aloha Wanderwell, Lexie will reinvent her journey. This time in the New All-Electric Ford Explorer. No doubt there will be unforeseen challenges along the way, but that’s what makes it exciting!
