Performance and Efficiency

With a number of all-new Hybrid versions available, as well as advanced petrol and diesel options, the New Ford Kuga offers newer, cleaner, and more economical ways to enjoy SUV driving.

Clean. Quiet. Capable

Ford Kuga’s advanced Plug-in Hybrid technology combines a battery powered electric motor with its 2.5-litre Duratec petrol engine – delivering a combined power output of 225 PS, together with outstanding fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures of just 32g CO2/km (WLTP)/26g CO2/km (NEDC). For added peace of mind, the hybrid battery comes with an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty (whichever comes first).

A choice of electric vehicle (EV) modes means you can decide whether to run on power from the electric motor, petrol engine or via a combination of both. When using the mode ‘EV Now’ the Vehicle can travel up to 56km on electric power only. So, you can make easy work of any terrain, while keeping your city driving clean, quiet and refined.

Effortless charging

The New Kuga Plug-in Hybrid comes with two standard charging cables: one for regular home charging, and another for public charging stations.

Want to make charging your Plug-in Hybrid at home as fast as possible? With the help of one of our expert installation partners, you can install a Ford Wall-Box at home as an optional accessory. Capable of charging your Kuga from 0-100% in under 3.5 hours, the Ford Wall-Box offers much faster charging times than a conventional plug socket.

When you’re driving, a combination of regenerative braking and power drawn from the engine helps replenish the battery. And if you need to recharge on-the-go, you can easily use an ever-growing network of public charging stations too.

Uncompromised performance

The 1.5-litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine uses a combination of direct fuel injection and turbo-charging, along with cylinder deactivation technology, to deliver outstanding power with remarkable efficiency. Available in a choice of 120 PS or 150 PS options, you’ll enjoy all the uncompromised performance you’d expect from a conventional 1.5-litre engine, but with better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.

Use less fuel with Auto-Start-Stop

When you stop at traffic lights or your vehicle is idling in a queue, this technology can automatically switch off the engine, while still supplying power to the essentials. When you're ready to move, just depress the clutch and select first gear as usual, or press the accelerator on an automatic vehicle, and the system seamlessly restarts. Auto-Start-Stop is particularly effective in town and city streets, where it can cut fuel consumption by up to 10% (urban cycle).

Extra support for your engine

The All-New Kuga’s Ford EcoBlue Hybrid diesel option incorporates a small electric motor with a 48-volt battery to help improve engine efficiency.

This is a Mild-Hybrid Electric powertrain, which cannot be driven solely on electric power. Instead the electric motor provides additional support to the combustion engine when needed, helping both to increase your vehicle mileage, and reduce emission figures.

There is no need to connect the vehicle to an external power source, as the separate 48-volt battery pack which powers the electric motor is recharged while you drive. Regenerative braking works by redirecting energy from the brakes and back into the mild hybrid battery.

The smarter diesel option

Prefer diesel? Ford Kuga offers a choice of 1.5 and 2.0 litre EcoBlue engines, incorporating the latest diesel technology to improve power, torque and economy, whilst reducing emissions. Delivering an impressive 120 PS or 190 PS of power respectively, whichever diesel engine you choose, you'll also have the option of a manual or advanced automatic transmission.

Swift, manual gear changes

Kuga’s 6-speed manual gearbox has a high torque capacity and delivers smooth, swift and accurate gear-changes. To help optimise fuel efficiency, the shift indicator light within the instrument panel tells you when to change gear.

Seamless gear selection

For models with automatic transmission, Kuga’s Rotary Gear Shift Dial gives you complete control of the advanced 8-speed gearbox – allowing you to seamlessly select gears with the simple twist of the dial. While replacing the conventional gear leaver frees up additional space for a cleaner, more refined interior design.

Tame every terrain

Smooth city streets, or rocky off-road terrain: wherever you’re driving, Kuga is built to maximise control. Choose from five available drive modes, which fine-tune vehicle performance to perfectly suit the conditions. The system alters acceleration, steering and suspension sensitivity, while also working with traction, stability, and Hill Decent Control systems, to provide optimum control in any setting.

Select between: Normal, Sport, Wet/Slippery, Trail, or for maximum efficiency, the Eco mode. Key information is displayed via Kuga’s 12.3” digital instrument cluster, which changes between unique colour themes according to which drive mode you have selected.

Reduced emissions

With impressive CO2 emissions figures of just 32g CO2/km (WLTP)/26g CO2/km (NEDC), the Ford Kuga Plug-In Hybrid engine meets the stringent Euro 6.2 emissions standards. These standards are designed to improve air quality and reduce exhaust emissions.
