Coordinated safety systems activate in a split-second

There are two kinds of safety features in our Ford Intelligent Protection System (IPS): those that focus on helping you avoid an accident (active) and those that protect you if a collision is imminent (passive).

Active systems focus on helping you keep control of the car, such as Electronic Brake-Force Distribution, Anti-Lock Braking and Traction Control. Passive systems activate in the split-second before impact, including advanced seatbelts, airbags and the pedal intrusion prevention system. Along with a rigid, protective bodyshell, they minimise the chance of injury.
