Safety and Security

The New Transit Courier incorporates a range of smart technologies that are designed to help to protect you, your vehicle, and other road users. Systems such as Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control help to improve your stability in challenging driving conditions. And the Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems can even alert you when it detects that your tyres lose pressure.

Enhanced stability in difficult driving conditions

Electronic Stability Control constantly monitors your vehicle’s progress. It senses when it’s losing grip and automatically applies a braking pulse to individual wheels, helping to stabilise it. Using advanced sensors from the anti-lock braking and Traction Control System it monitors the behaviour of the vehicle.

Maximum grip with minimum effort

An advanced Traction Control System eliminates excessive wheelspin and gives you the best possible grip, performance and stability, just when you need it most. The system constantly monitors and adjusts the power delivered to the vehicle’s individual wheels ensuring maximum contact and grip when you’re accelerating.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring

An early warning if a tyre is going flat

If any of your tyres starts to lose pressure during your journey, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System warns you immediately if there’s a puncture by lighting up an icon on the instrument panel.

Advanced systems for more controlled braking

Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution combine to ensure that your braking is effective. Emergency Brake Assist also helps your vehicle achieve maximum braking effectiveness in an emergency situation. It’s controlled automatically via the Electronic Stability Control system, which senses how much pressure you’ve applied to the brake yourself and automatically increases it, if necessary. And if you brake heavily, the emergency brake light system flashes the brake lights to warn other drivers.

Continuous protection against rolling over

Ford’s unique roll-rate sensor helps the Roll Stability Control system to keep the tyres grounded, specifically under conditions where there’s a high centre of gravity and when driving through off-camber turns.

Enhanced Airbag System

The New Transit Courier is available with driver, passenger and side airbags and an improved activation system.

Remote Control Central Locking

The New Transit Courier has remote control central door locking, which is more secure than ever. That's because you can choose to open the front passenger doors while the cargo area stays locked, until you activate the remote button again.

Two high level alarm options

The new Transit Courier is available with an optional perimeter alarm system, which is set off if the doors or bonnet are opened by force. A more sophisticated Thatcham Category 1 alarm system is also available. This automatically arms itself when you lock the vehicle and a powerful alarm sounds if triggered by forced entry, the vehicle being lifted, or if the motion sensors pick up any movement inside.

An extra, independent back-up alarm

A battery back-up sounder is an additional, secondary alarm system that comes with the Thatcham alarm option. This sounds a siren when the alarm is triggered and because it has its own built-in power source, will activate even if someone disconnects the main vehicle battery.
