Safety and Security

The new Ford Mondeo is packed with advanced safety systems designed to help keep you, your passengers, and other road users safe. Some technologies, including Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, can proactively help avoid incidents altogether. Whilst other systems, such as Rear Inflatable Seatbelts, help to protect people in the event of an accident.

A system that can help protect pedestrians

Pre-Collision Assist detects vehicles and pedestrians in the road ahead, or who could cross the vehicle’s path, and warns you of their presence. If you don’t respond, the system automatically applies the brakes. This technology is designed to help reduce the severity of accidents, or help avoid them altogether, and functions at speeds of up to 50 mph.

Extra protection for your passengers

The two rear outer seats can be fitted with a unique safety feature: a rear inflatable seat belt. In the event of an impact, the belts inflate and spread the crash forces over a five times larger area of the body than conventional seat belts. By reducing pressure on the chest and better controlling head and neck movement, this innovative technology can help reduce the likelihood of injury.

Stay in control whatever the conditions

Electronic Stability Control constantly monitors your vehicle’s progress. It senses when a vehicle is losing grip and automatically applies a braking pulse to individual wheels, stabilising it. Using advanced sensors from the anti-lock braking and Traction Control System, it monitors the behaviour of the vehicle.

Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection

This technology scans the road to detect vehicles and pedestrians ahead and warns you of their presence. If you don’t respond, the system automatically applies the brakes, reducing the severity of accidents and helping you avoid them altogether.

Extra power for emergency braking

Emergency Brake Assist helps your vehicle achieve maximum braking effectiveness in an emergency situation. It’s controlled automatically via the Electronic Stability Control system, which senses how much pressure you’ve applied to the brake yourself and automatically increases it, if necessary.

Quicker, shorter emergency stops

When it senses an emergency stopping situation, Electronic Stability Control pre-charges the braking system, closing any air gap between brake pads and discs. Known as electronic brake prefill, this technology helps reduce the vehicle’s braking distance.

Choose which doors you want to lock and unlock

The Mondeo has remote control central door locking, which is more secure than ever. That’s because you can choose to open one individual door while the other doors stay securely locked until you activate a switch on the driver’s door. This same switch controls the locking and unlocking of all the vehicle’s doors.
