Top features of the new Ford Minibus
A new range of powerful, highly efficient Duratorq diesel engines with 6-speed transmissions; advanced safety systems like Electronic Stability Programme (ESP); and a host of innovative and intelligent technologies such as Smart Regenerative Charging, which can help charge the battery every time you brake. Read about all these and more top features below.
New Euro Stage V diesel engines

The new highly efficient 2.2 Duratorq TDCi diesel engine powers the new Transit. Combined with Ford ECOnetic technologies, this engine can lower the cost of owning a Transit and reduce its impact on the environment. This advanced engine meets stringent Euro Stage V emissions standards, while still producing significantly more power and torque than the previous line-up. The 135PS/335Nm engine has been carefully developed to meet the needs of a rear-wheel drive Minibus.

Outstanding dynamics
The design of the Transit Minibus has been enhanced to further protect against stress and tiredness: vital when you spend a lot of time behind the wheel.

Specifically, the steering is now lighter and more responsive, making it easier to drive in congested towns or manoeuvre in tight parking spaces. A revised suspension balance also delivers a smoother ride (whether the minibus is full or empty).

And smooth acceleration through the rev range, regardless of the number of passengers or the driving conditions, makes driving effortless. By making the cabin more car-like too (carefully reducing noise and vibration whatever the road surface) there’s less likelihood of driver fatigue.

Auto-Start-Stop
Working in conjunction with the new Duratorq Euro Stage V engines, this optional system can lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in heavy traffic. It automatically switches off the engine when idling, then re-starts it the instant you touch the clutch. Considering that a vehicle’s engine is rarely used continually on city journeys, this fuel saving technology makes perfect sense in the real world.

Variable Nozzle Turbo
All the new Duratorq Stage V engines come with a Variable Nozzle Turbo (VNT). This boosts engine torque and throttle response, giving a more responsive drive while also reducing emissions.
Coated Diesel Particulate filter (CDPf)

Using state-of-the-art technology, this feature reduces soot particles from the exhaust (particulates) by up to 95%. It’s fitted as standard to all the new Duratorq Euro V engines.

Smart Regenerative Charging
When you slow down, this technology creates electrical energy that charges the vehicle’s battery. Unlike conventional systems this one only charges the battery when it needs it, which can help save fuel and reduce emissions.
6-speed manual transmission
Now standard across the Transit range, this smooth-shifting 6-speed manual transmission helps reduce emissions and save on fuel costs. It also makes for a more relaxing drive.
‘ECO’ Pack
For even better fuel consumption and lower CO2 levels, many series Transit vehicles come with the option of the ECO Pack. This includes the Auto-Start-Stop system and 110km/h switchable speed limiter.
Low rolling resistance tyres

These advanced tyres are designed to meet less resistance when rotating. As a result, they use less energy, which can help reduce fuel consumption even further.

The Transit Minibus offers an array of advanced engines, innovative technologies and intelligent features. It’s designed to keep you and your passengers safe and secure, your fuel costs low and your CO2 emissions to the minimum: good news for both your bottom line and the environment.
Bluetooth logo
Bluetooth® with Voice Control*
Now you can make and receive mobile calls, change the music and operate other key controls, just by using your voice. So you don’t have to take your eyes off the road or your hands off the wheel.
Climate Control
When it’s hot outside you’ll appreciate the enhanced cooling performance of the optional air-conditioning. And when the temperature drops, there’s also an optional fuel-fired heater.
Home Safe Headlights
When you get out of your Transit at night, the lights can be set to stay on for 30 seconds, safely illuminating the path away from your vehicle.
Rear-view camera
The optional rear-facing camera displays the view behind on a 7” TFT LCD screen in the cab. This can make reversing both easier and safer.
Facia Mounted Gearshift
This is ergonomically designed to fall naturally to hand and provide smoother, more car-like, gear changes. As the gearshift is positioned on the facia, the driver and passenger have unrestricted cross-cab access.
Shift Indicator Light
An easy-to-spot light in the instrument cluster illuminates briefly to tell you the most efficient time to change up a gear.
Satellite navigation
All Transit vans can be equipped with advanced, easy to operate, satellite navigation systems.
Digital tachograph
The dash-mounted tachograph can help you manage your business efficiently. It records driving and rest times, speeds, distance travelled and any faults that might have occurred. It then stores this information for 365 days.
Energy management
Rear-wheel-drive (RWD) models are equipped with twin batteries so the second battery can power whatever accessory is needed when the engine is switched off. This leaves the primary battery in a high state of charge for dependable start and run operation. And, if you forget to turn the lights off, a battery saver function automatically cancels all lights left on when the vehicle is locked.
Rain-sensing wipers
Optional rain-sensing wipers detect water on your windscreen from the first drops of rain, and automatically adjust their speed to the intensity of the shower. As you don’t have to worry about switching them on (or off again), you can fully concentrate on driving safely in wet conditions. The twin glazed rear doors also have twin wash/wipers while the rear windows feature automatic wipers that are triggered when reverse gear is selected, to help you back up safely.
Quickclear heated windscreen
Quickclear puts an end to scraping ice off your windscreen. Simply press the button and the invisible heating elements quickly clear the ice or snow for you.

Keeping driver and passengers safe, and secure, at all times is vital. That’s why all Transit Minibuses are fitted with a comprehensive package of safety and security measures.
Advanced driving safety
In a commercial vehicle designed to transport several people at a time, driver and passenger safety is key. That’s why Transit Minibus comes with a package of state-of-the-art driving safety technologies. For instance, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), incorporating Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), senses any slight deviations from your chosen driving line and automatically corrects the minibus’s road position. And if you have to brake sharply, Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) reduces the stopping distance by instantly reacting and applying maximum braking effort.
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)
The Electronic Stability Programme, incorporating anti-lock braking system (ABS), senses any slight deviations from your chosen driving line and automatically corrects the Transit’s road position, helping you remain in control.
In addition, Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) reduces your stopping distance if you have to brake sharply, by instantly reacting and applying maximum braking effort.
Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD)

EBD balances your braking force independently across all four wheels, making the vehicle more stable, which can lead to shorter stopping distances. It works together with ABS.

Hill Start Assist (HSA)
When you’re making a hill start, this system prevents you from rolling backwards. It works by keeping the wheels braked, after you’ve released the brake pedal, helping you move away safely. Plus, the Brake Traction Control System (BTCS) will help you pull away smoothly even when fully laden.
Anti-lock Braking (ABS)
ABS (anti-lock braking system) prevents your wheels locking when you’re braking. This can help you avoid skidding or loss of directional control when you’re taking a corner or making an emergency stop.
Brake Traction Control System (BTCS)
This helps avoid wheelspin when pulling away; particularly useful when you’ve two wheels on a grass verge or loose gravel at the side of a road.
All Wheel Drive (AWD)
•    Additional traction in difficult driving conditions, such as loose surfaces, mud or heavy snow
•    Improved vehicle competence on slippery or off-road surfaces, when the system increases drive to the front wheels to enhance traction
•    ‘Intelligent’ automatic system needs no driver input
•    Particularly suited to rescue services or utility companies where field and track work is frequently undertaken
Advanced headlights
Lighting technology in the Transit is designed to make driving at night or in poor conditions easier, safer and more comfortable. The large lenses of the headlights provide a high degree of illumination and can incorporate a fog light for even greater visibility. Fitted with the optional auto-headlights, they will automatically come on when the sensors detect a reduction in daylight conditions: at dusk or in a tunnel, for example.
Speed Limiter
This switchable device enables you to set and limit your van’s top speed, up to 110 km/h. As well as improving safety, this can help reduce fuel consumption and lower emissions.
Cruise control
Just set your desired speed via switches on the ergonomically designed, 4-spoke leather steering wheel, and let cruise control make travelling long distances far less tiring.
Passenger safety
Transit Minibus is designed to absorb and channel crash energy away from occupants during a collision. A driver’s airbag is standard and front passenger and side curtain airbags all enhance occupant protection.

There's also a strengthened front seat pedestal and supportive, comfortable seats that incorporate three-point lap and diagonal seat belts plus individually height-adjustable head restraints.

The Emergency Safety Pack, standard on the 14-seater Minibus upwards, offers extra peace of mind with a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, A-pillar and sliding door passenger grab handles, emergency door decals and rear door step lighting.
Vehicle security
The new Transit Minibus’ impressive range of security measures includes:
•    Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) that disables the engine when your key is removed from the ignition and will only prime the engine when it recognises your uniquely coded key
•    High-security shielded locks with strengthened mountings and the unique lock-in-latch system to prevent door lock tampering and unauthorised access
•    Central or double locking, key-operated bonnet release and fuel cap will deter and hinder thieves
•    Visible Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
•    ‘Torque slip’ anti-theft steering wheel

For added protection and potentially lower vehicle insurance, an alarm system with an interior scanner and battery back-up is available. This alarm also monitors trailer coupling to safeguard whatever you might be towing.
As your minibus may well cover a high mileage every year, servicing, maintenance and repair (SMR) costs are an important issue. With that in mind, Transit Minibus is designed and built to minimise the 'cost of ownership'.
