4-wheel anti-lock braking system (4W-ABS)
4W-ABS is a combination of an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD). So, whether you are laden with a palette of bricks, or just carrying a set of golf clubs, this advanced system provides safe, effective braking and steering stability when braking mid corner. Plus, short distance stopping is also improved in adverse weather conditions.
Comprehensive safety system
New Ranger has a range of active and passive safety features to protect passengers.
Driver and front passenger airbags are fitted as standard, with seat side airbags available on XLT, Thunder and Wildtrak models. Front seats also have anti-submarining ramps to hold occupants in their seats in the event of a collision.
New Ranger’s superior body construction provides a protective shield, which directs the crash force away from the occupants. In addition, the high waistline and side intrusion bars increase protection from side impact. And to reduce potential injury to the driver, the steering column collapses into the dashboard on impact.
Total protection
We have equipped all models with a range of security measures to help ensure your vehicle stays where you parked it. For instance, there’s remote central locking on all three cabstyles and a steering column ignition lock.
Our Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) immobilises the engine until your uniquely coded key is detected in the ignition, so your new Ranger can’t be driven away if a thief manages to get into the cab. Each new Ranger also comes with a visible Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), which means it can be easily traced.
Tested to extremes
Tested through mud, water, snow and desert in the most extreme temperatures, the tough, dependable new Ranger came through it all, delivering smooth and predictable acceleration, even when fully laden. Whatever your job entails, you will be able to rely on this durable vehicle.
There’s a choice of three driving modes: 4x2 for regular driving, 4x4 (4H High Range) for poor road surfaces and muddy tracks, and 4x4 (4L Low Range) for those really difficult off-road situations. Selecting the mode that's most appropriate for the conditions means a sure-footed, more agile and more comfortable drive.
