New levels of both power and economy
The new Ranger features a new, improved engine range, which delivers more power and improved fuel consumption. And hand in hand with better economy levels, come lower emissions levels: the vehicle now achieves CO2 figures as low as 199g/Km.

To cope with heavy loads or master challenging terrain, the Ranger has to be able to produce plenty of torque. Its new range of engines and transmissions can deliver whenever you need them to.
More powerful, more economical diesel engines
The new Ranger now offers a range of new Duratorq Stage Vdiesel engines that combine extra power and torque with outstanding fuel economy.

For example, the150PS/110kW 2.2-litre 4 cylinder engine delivers up to 375 Nm of torque and a frugal fuel economy figure of 8.69.7-litres/100km (combined cycle). While the 200PS 3.2 litre TDCi (diesel) offers up to 470Nm of torque.

The higher-powered engines use a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT), which controls the amount of power and torque produced. It improves starting and gives you class-leading torque at low speeds, even without touching the accelerator – minimising fuel consumption and emissions.

In fact, all the new engines meet the stringent European Stage V emissions standards. The Ranger’s new engines are more efficient, as well as more powerful. And the vehicle’s driving dynamics mean it’s agile and surefooted, whatever the surface. All in all, the vehicle offers the complete performance package.
New 6-speed transmissions save fuel and cut emissions
A new, smooth-shifting 6-speed manual transmission is now available; designed and engineered to complement the new diesel engine line-up. This precision system helps reduce emissions and save on fuel costs, while making for a more relaxing drive. In addition, an advanced automatic version has been precisely tuned to provide smooth but quick shifts and offer improved fuel economy.
A combination of new technologies and functional design means you can manoeuvre the Ranger across virtually any ground conditions – sand, rocks, mud or even water (Ranger has best-in-class wading ability).
New steering system for better manoeuvrability
Ranger’s new rack-and-pinion system gives you more accurate and precise steering. This is designed to improve manoeuvrability at low speeds, such as when you’re parking or negotiating a narrow off-road track. It takes only 3.5 turns of the steering wheel from lock to lock. And the turning circle is just 12.4m.

New larger wheels for optimum grip
The new Ranger XL is fitted with 16” steel wheels as standard, while the XLT has performance-style alloys. The larger tyres exert tremendous grip no matter how treacherous the ground conditions, giving you optimum confidence and control. The wheels are also able to put down more power from the more powerful new engines, delivering greater traction and torque on the road (or wherever you happen to be driving).

Five new tyre types
To ensure optimum performance, over 100 new tyre options were relentlessly tested in the most extreme, hostile and unforgiving conditions on earth. Just five survived, to be further developed, refined and made ready for the new Ford Ranger line-up. Covering on and off road use, they combine excellent traction, low noise and durability and can absorb the impact of the roughest, most rugged terrains, to ensure a comfortable ride.


The new Ranger has two features in particular that further improve the economy levels of its new Duratorq diesel engine range.
Lower fuel consumption with low rolling resistance tyres
All five tyres are designed to meet less resistance when rotating. As a result, they use less energy, which helps further reduce fuel consumption.




Electricity management saves on emissions and fuel
The innovative Electrical Energy Management function supplies electric power to the Ranger and includes the generation of electric power (alternator), storage of electric energy (in the battery) and consumption control. Consumption control consists of monitoring and adjusting the consumption of electricity, for example when the engine is off, during driving (to prolong battery life) and to control engine emissions. The system can also help lower fuel consumption.
