This intuitive digital command centre helps you stay in complete control of many of the car’s systems. Featuring an enhanced or Ford Convers+ cluster display, the HMI is operated by two steering wheel-mounted toggles for audio and vehicle settings. With the left toggle you can find and change radio stations or CD tracks, as well as set the volume. The right toggle switch controls the cluster display for vehicle settings and the trip computer. On the Ford Convers+ cluster display, the right toggle lets you scroll through MultiMedia lists, controlling the phone, radio, and CD player. An optional USB/MP3/iPod® connectivity port is also available.

Now you can choose to safely make hands-free calls on the move from your mobile by using Voice Control technology. This system lets you control a Bluetooth®*-compatible mobile, as well as the car’s audio, DVD navigation and climate control systems.

With ACC you can automatically keep your chosen distance from the car in front. Should the car in front slow down and reduce the gap, your speed drops, too. And when traffic speeds up, you automatically return to cruising speed. Meanwhile, FA monitors your distance to the vehicle in front and if you drive too close, a warning noise and flashing light activate.

This new driver assistance system is included as part of cruise control. ASLD is designed to help drivers avoid exceeding driver-selected speeds unintentionally – for example, staying within legal speed limits during long road trips. By using enhanced cruise control switches on the steering wheel, you can adjust your top speed limit within a range of 30 to 180 km/h (19 to 112 mph). Should you try to exceed that range, the engine management system intervenes to maintain your set speed limit.

What if you feel the cold, but your passenger doesn’t? You and your front passenger can set the temperature with up to 4°C variation between you.

With the S-MAX, an AUX jack is available, so you can plug in your MP3 player and operate it yourself. You can also use the USB connection to plug in your MP3 player. To control the music, just operate the remote audio controls, or issue voice commands using Bluetooth® with Voice Control technology.

For loads up to 2000kg when the vehicle is in two seat mode. The optional sliding load floor is fitted in lieu of third-row seats allowing for easier loading and unloading.

The robust, full height dog guard system keeps dogs or items of luggage safely in the luggage compartment or within the vehicle. This can be fixed either behind the second-row seats or behind the front seats when the second-row seats have been folded down. The dog guard system meets European safety requirements and is available as an accessory.

This durable retention net keeps your items secure in the luggage compartment of your S-MAX while you're on the move. The net meets Economic Commission for Europe (ECE-R17) safety requirements and is available as an option and accessory.

This innovative kit allows bulky items such as bikes and skis to be securely locked in place, by using a series of aluminium bars and special attachments that are fitted in the rear. The kit is available as an option and accessory.

This windscreen has been specially designed so that it blocks more of the sun’s heat than standard glass. This means the interior has less heat build up on warm days, which provides a more comfortable driving environment for you.

Individual seat comfort, controlled by the occupant, that improves driving comfort, particularly on longer distances. With a choice of five heating and ventilation levels, the seats feature built-in heating elements to provide the desired temperature while the perforated seat trim and fans inside the seats allow cool air from within the car to circulate between the seats and their occupants.

This automatically detects the glare from the headlights of following vehicles, and reduces the brightness. It prevents you from being distracted or dazzled, which makes night-time driving easier and safer.

New to S-MAX, the Ford Key-Free System is a keyless entry system that lets you lock and unlock your car, without taking your key out of your pocket or bag. Sensors around the car detect the presence of the ‘passive key’ and activate the locking mechanism accordingly.
