All-new Ford Focus
Engines and technology
The new Focus offers an array of intelligent features, refined engines and innovative technologies that together make a big difference to your pocket and the environment.
Engines and Gearboxes
TDCi engine
Both the frugal 1.6 litre TDCi engines (available in 95 PS or 115 PS variants) and the powerful 2.0 litre TDCi (in 115 PS) diesel engine have seen a series of performance improvements. For example, the higher pressure, multiple injection process and more efficient fuel pump both significantly increase energy efficiency. The result? Increased power, torque and fuel economy, along with lower CO2 emissions. Both 1.6TDCi engines fall into VRT Tax Band A. The 2.0 litre TDCi in 115 PS falls into VRT Tax Band B which is great news for a vehicle with an automatic transmission.

1.6 TDCi – 95PS or 115PS – Tax Band A
2.0 TDCi – 115PS – Tax Band B (only available with PowerShift Automatic Transmission)

Ford PowerShift Transmission*
You can opt for Ford PowerShift – a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox that pre-selects the next gear for you. This technology means you experience no loss of power when changing gear and it makes driving an automatic smoother and more fun. In addition, seamless gear changes save fuel and lower CO2 emissions compared to a conventional automatic. Plus, there's little increase in fuel consumption compared to a manual gearbox, so you can choose an automatic without any compromise.

* Ford PowerShift is only available with the 2.0 litre TDCi in 115 PS diesel engine.

VCT engine
Both the frugal 1.6 litre VCT petrol engines (available in 105 PS or 125 PS variants) have seen a series of performance and CO2 improvements. The result? Increased power, torque and fuel economy, along with lower CO2 emissions. Both engines fall into VRT Tax Band B

EPAS
The electric power-assisted steering system (EPAS) is an ingenious development that offers easier, lighter steering at slower town speeds or when you’re parking in a tight spot. It also gives you firmer steering for more control at higher speeds, when you’re travelling on the motorway, for instance. Unlike conventional power-assisted steering that operates continuously and consumes energy and fuel, our EPAS only activates when required, enhancing fuel economy and making the car lighter on your pocket, too. (Standard)
Auto-Start-Stop
Auto-Start-Stop automatically switches off the engine when the vehicle is stationary, for example when you're at traffic lights or idling in a queue. This clever technology also looks after your comfort and entertainment by keeping systems such as the air conditioning running while the engine is off. Then it restarts the engine the moment you're ready to move. Fitted as standard on some models, it's ideal if most of your driving takes place in town and can reduce your fuel consumption by 10% (urban cycle). A saving that should certainly give you pause for thought. . (Optional)
Shift Indicator
The Shift Indicator on the instrument panel tells you when to change gear for maximum fuel efficiency. An innovation that's as simple as it is effective. (Standard on Edge, Zetec and Titanium series)
