The B-Max is available with petrol and diesel engines and a choice of gearbox types. But there is one new option that stands out for delivering exceptional power and torque for its size, along with class-leading fuel economy – the EcoBoost 1.0 litre petrol engine.

New highly-advanced EcoBoost petrol engine
The B-MAX is available with a revolutionary 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine with 100PS which delivers the power of a 1.6 litre. Yet it still manages to consume 20% less fuel than other equivalent petrol engines. In fact, its fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures are more like a diesel’s. To achieve this, it has been fundamentally re-engineered – a faster engine warm-up time and reduced friction are just a couple of improvements. As well as its power and economy, you’ll enjoy its unique sound and sporty feel.
Alongside the new EcoBoost engine, the B-MAX is available with the entry level 1.4 litre Duratec engine, producing 90 PS, and the 1.6 Ti-VCT – a smooth, efficient option producing 105 PS with PowerShift gearbox.

Our new diesel engine delivers class leading efficiency
The economical 1.5TDCi engine produces 75PS and keeps fuel consumption at a low level of 4.1/100km and brings CO2 emissions levels to just 109g/km.

Both the diesel and 1.4 Duratec petrol come with a slick-shifting 5-speed manual transmission, carefully adjusted to match the characteristics of each engine.

The 1.6 litre TI-VCT petrol engine comes with the PowerShift gearbox. Combining the convenience of an automatic with the control of a manual, this six-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox pre-selects the next gear for you, so you don’t lose any power when you change. Its lightning fast, seamless gear changes not only make driving smoother and more pleasurable, but also help save fuel and lower CO2 emissions compared to a traditional automatic.
In conjunction with its range of highly efficient petrol and diesel engines, the B-MAX has a number of advanced features designed to enhance fuel economy.
A more economical way to re-charge your battery
Unlike conventional systems, Smart Regenerative Charging only charges the battery when it needs it, and when it’s most economical to do so. For instance, when you’re braking, the technology converts the force used into electrical energy, to help re-charge the battery while you're on the move. This can help save fuel and reduce emissions.

Ford B-MAX EcoMode
A smart information system to help you drive more efficiently
The innovative Ford Eco Mode system continually assesses the effects of your driving behaviour on your fuel consumption, including: speed, gear shifting, anticipation levels, plus the proportion of short to long trips. Smart software then advises you on how to improve your fuel economy, according to your unique driving style.
