Ford Ireland has announced the introduction from next month of the high-specification Ranger Wildtrak, a high-end double cab pick-up set to further boost a nameplate which has already enjoyed spectacular success this year in a segment showing robust growth.
The Wildtrak’s introduction comes on foot of a 6-fold increase in Ranger sales in Ireland so far this year. The flagship of the range is designed to take the style and appeal of the new-generation Ranger to the ultimate, with an array of attractive visual features. These include chrome front grille and power fold mirrors, silver roof rails, new 16” alloy wheels, aerodynamic sports bar, sports side steps, lower sports cladding and side intake ‘gills’. In addition, the rear load box benefits from rail extensions and a roller shutter. The specification extends to inside the cabin with heated front leather seats, sports steering wheel, ‘Wildtrak’ mats and door scuff plates.
The two tone metallic exterior – which includes an eye-catching chilli orange – adds to the well-groomed appearance of the Wildtrak, but this remains a workhorse true to the Ranger name. The new 156PS 3-litre TDCi diesel engine, with an additional 13PS and 50Nm of torque over the current powertrain offering, ensures enhanced pulling power and overtaking ability, while the 5-speed manual gearbox is tuned for fuel economy. However extreme the terrain or the conditions, Wildtrak is first and foremost a workmate you can rely on.
“The strong growth of the Ranger in Ireland has seen it take its place among the leading players in a pick-up market which has almost doubled over last year,” comments Eddie Murphy, Chairman and Managing Director, Ford Ireland. “That’s due in large part to its strong specification level and the value for money it offers. It’s also due to the support it enjoys from a network of very knowledgeable dealers. That’s something buyers of pick-ups here appreciate.
“The new Wildtrak upholds the essential practicality and durability of the brand, while adding a large dose of sophistication. This is a working machine with the attributes of a lifestyle vehicle.”
In the first six months of this year, 2,839 pick-up vehicles were sold in Ireland, an increase of over 90% on the same period last year.
Complete with roller shutter, the Ford Ranger Wildtrak goes on sale from €40,425 (price excludes delivery and related charges).
