Ford drives Eurovision Song Content
Cork, May 28, 2010 – Ford is the official Vehicle provider of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, which takes place in Olso, Norway, from May 25 - 29. With a fleet of 40 vehicles Ford is the exclusive transportation provider for the organising team, artists and celebrities.
In supporting the Contest, Ford is taking the opportunity to showcase its latest vehicle line-up, including the new S-MAX and new Galaxy, the Mondeo, the Kuga and Transit buses. The fleet consists of vehicles, either white or black, with the Eurovision Song Contest logo and “Share the Moment” decals prominently attached on the vehicles.
Ireland’s entry for this year’s competition, the 50th anniversary year, is the song “It’s for You” sung by Niamh Kavanagh who previously won the competition for Ireland in 1993 with the song “In Your Eyes”. Ireland is currently running at odds of 18 to 1 to emerge as overall winner of the competition.
When the Ford fleet for this year's event was delivered, the first car – a black Ford S-MAX with the all-new, high efficiency, turbocharged, 203 PS 2.0-litre EcoBoost SCTi petrol engine – was driven by Hanne Krogh, who won the competition for Norway in 1985.
This year 38 countries will participate in the Contest, which will be watched by 150 million people and culminates in the final on May 29.
