Best-selling Fiesta joins the party with scrappage offer

Cork, December 23, 2009 – Ford’s best-selling Fiesta, fresh from strutting its stuff on the final of The Apprentice TV show, is set to make its mark on the January car market, as Ford Ireland has added its own discount bonus to the Government scrappage rebate of €1,500, resulting in a price from just €11,700*.

The Ford star, judged one of the world’s most stylish cars in the prestigious Red Dot 2009 design awards in Germany, has found immediate favour with the Irish driving public, becoming the country’s best-selling small car this year. Across the rest of the world, the response has been similar, with Fiesta garnering 70 car accolades across the globe in the last 12 months. Since its launch at the tail-end of 2008, the Fiesta has claimed the title of 2nd best-selling car in Europe and no. 1 best-seller in its segment for 2009.

Sporting a sprightly 1.25 litre frugal petrol engine, the Fiesta Style boasts smart alloy wheels and front fogs, as well as interior features such as 5 airbags, central locking, electric front windows and iPod connectivity.

“For its looks alone, the Fiesta is gaining recognition as one of the most alluring cars to wear the Ford badge,” comments Eddie Murphy, Chairman and Managing Director, Ford Ireland. “Now that appeal extends to its price. Expect this car to feature highly among those availing of the Government scheme”.

Applying to cars within the A and B VRT bands, the budget scrappage scheme covers the Ka; Fiesta 1.25 petrol and 1.4 diesel models; the best-selling Focus 1.6 TDCi; and low-emission Mondeo ECOnetic.

The Fiesta scrappage deal comes on top of the special Ka scrappage offer which sees the Ka available from the super low price of €7,995*.
