April 1 2010 – Figures issued by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) today show that car sales in Ireland rebounded by 78 percent during the month of March. Sales for the month were 13,813 vehicles, while the figure for March 2009 was 7,762 vehicles. Year to date figures show a sales increase of 31 percent over the first quarter in 2009.

March 19 2010 – Figures for the 2010 Irish car market show Ford is the brand leading the significant shift to greener, lower-CO2 producing vehicles. Nearly four out of every 10 Ford cars sold (39 percent) so far this year were models that fall into the lowest CO2 tax band A (120g/km or less). This statistic compares with a full year 2009 total of 15 percent of Ford car sales that were tax band A-rated.

1 March 2010 – The rise in new car sales accelerated last month, as registrations grew by 38% over February 2009. The jump in sales of vans was even more pronounced, at 72%. According to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) a total of 12,325 cars were registered last month, up from 8,950 in the same period last year. Ford is the best-selling car brand so far this year, with 13.5% of the market.

According to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI), 15,929 cars were registered last month, down from 47,609 in January of last year. Ford, with a 17.9% share, was market leader, ahead of Toyota.

6 January 2009 – Sales of new cars and vans in Ireland fell to the their lowest level in five years last year, as Ford regained market leadership, ahead of Toyota and VW.
