Buyers can start test driving the new Focus at local Ford dealerships beginning this week
Cork, 19 February, 2008 – Ford Ireland has announced prices for the new Ford Focus, which arrives at Ford dealers nationwide this week.
Prices start at €19,565 – the same starting price for the model this new Focus replaces. The range comprises 46 models, from the entry-level Focus Freedom to the luxury Ghia and sporty Titanium series.
"Ireland’s top selling car for the last seven years and with sales of more than 80,000, the Focus has always been hugely popular with Irish motorists," comments Eddie Murphy, Chairman and Managing Director, Ford Ireland. "It’s a great car that has got even better. With the addition of life-saving ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) technology as standard, but with no increase in the price, I am sure new Focus is going to prove even more popular in 2008.”
The cost of supplying ESP as an option for a car in the Focus segment would be in the region of €500.
The new-look Focus features the sleek lines of Ford’s kinetic Design philosophy that was first revealed with the S-MAX and new Mondeo. The addition of ESP as standard is a first in its class and is part of Ford’s commitment to making this key safety enhancement standard across its range of family cars. ESP is already standard on C-MAX, Mondeo, S-MAX, Galaxy and the Transit van.
The new Focus comes with Ford’s EasyFuel capless refuelling that prevents misfuelling; Ford's Intelligent Protection System (IPS) with 6 airbags, and ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), as standard across the range, as well as power front windows, remote central locking and a full-size spare wheel.
A range of new optional features include: the FordPower starter button; a tyre deflation detection system; LED rear lamps; DAB radio; and a premium centre console with a 230 volt power socket.
The new Focus engines are among the best performing in their class with a special fuel efficient and clean powertrain line-up in which every Focus 1.6-litre TDCi variant will achieve a sub-120 g/km CO2 classification.
The Focus Style features a Quickclear heated windscreen, power heated door mirrors, remote central locking, remote in-car entertainment, aluminium door handles and a silver centre stack. The Zetec range is available for a further €2,185, which includes air conditioning, sport design wheels, fog lamps, trip computer, and sports seats and suspension.
With cruise control, alloy wheels and power rear windows among an array of standard features, the Ghia series starts with the new 1.6Ti-VCT engine from €25,045, while the Titanium, with the same engine, sports partial leather seats and the high-end SONY 6-CD entertainment system, costs €24,450.
